Steve is a substitute teacher in Virginia. He and Dave met at the University of Michigan in 2002. Steve decided to do the trip so Dave wouldn’t get himself killed doing it alone… and he believes the cause is very noble. Steve is a “Manimal” and intends to wrestle a bear along the trip. Someday, Steve wouldn’t mind fighting raging forest fires.
Dave is a sixth grade teacher in Baltimore, Maryland who wouldn’t be doing this if it weren’t for God, his faithful friend and king. Before deciding to do the trip, the last time Dave had ridden a bike further than a mile was in fourth grade. Only two weeks before the trip, Dave still didn’t have a bike. He wishes to teach his students at Woodlawn Middle School that it’s alright to dream big, have faith, and act like a strong warrior champion.
Dave is also a writer: In Search of Shangri-La / 250 Days with Jesus

Love the website but the colors are difficult (especially on this “say your words” space. Need a little color contrast. Cant wait to keep track of how these two cretins are making out (so to speak) as they travel this long road. May God be with both of them – they’ll need a lot of help! Luv ya both, fellas. Hey Dave, Michigan stinks!

I am so impressed with this story. The world needs more people like Steve and Dave. They are proof that God works through his people. If the Christians of today don’t take a stand againt the ills of the world, how will the world be saved? We show God’s love by service to others. I am inspired. Thank you Steve and Dave for championing the cause of children here in the US and abroad.
“You are the salt of the earth…” Matthew 5:13 NIV
“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16 NIV
